CCIS operates a number of academic programs, fellowship opportunities and research initiatives at the forefront of comparative migration research.
These include:

Reimagining Refuge: California for Just Migrant Futures brings together leading UC immigration scholars, students, and organizations across California and the US-Mexico border to 1) seed a network of people forging just futures for migrants and 2) conduct an unprecedented, multi-sited, and multi-scalar analysis of the impacts of US treatment of migrants and asylum seekers, by and for California’s im/migrants.
- The CERC Migration Exchange Fellowship Program provides an opportunity for exceptional advanced PhD students
(3rd year or later), post-doctoral fellows and early career researchers from Toronto Metropolitan University and UC San Diego to participate in a one-month research exchange. - Our undergraduate minor in International Migration Studies for UCSD undergraduate students is only the program of its kind in the United States.

Mexican Migration Field Research Program provides UCSD students the opportunity to undertake field research in Mexico and publish the results of their research.
