Profile

Michael Min-Torresdey is a PhD candidate in Linguistic Anthropology at the University of California, San Diego. He holds an M.A. in Linguistic Anthropology from UC San Diego and a B.A. in Anthropology and Linguistics from the University of New Mexico. His research examines how Indigenous communities sustain collective belonging across landscapes shaped by bordering and enclosure. Working with Kumiay/Kumeyaay communities in the California–Baja California borderlands, he traces how longer histories of governance and dispossession continue to shape mobility, land, kinship, language reclamation, and community formation.
