Eva Sotomayor (Spain)

Eva Sotomayor is a sociologist, Tenured Professor at the University of Jaén (Department of Psychology- Area of Social Work).

From 2018 to 2022 she has been Data Bank director of the Sociological Research Center (Spanish Government) and a member of the Interministerial Statistics Commission (National Institute of Statistical). In addition, she has been a member of the Indicators Working Committee of the 2030 Agenda (National Institute of Statistics).

Her research lines focus on emotions and social exclusion (sociology of emotions). Among these lines, it is worth mentioning the study of migrations, having participated in the International Project "Develop a reference of competencies and training modules favoring the inclusion of migrants towards Europe", funded by the European Union (Erasmus +K2).

Another field of study is the stigma and exclusion of people with intellectual disabilities. In this area, she leads the research "Effects of work on the emotional well-being of people with intellectual disability and on the companies (EmoDI-In3)", funded by the Social Observatory of La Caixa Foundation.

She is also the Director of the research structure "Inclusion, Diversity, and Promotion of Well-being (IN_3)", funded by the University of Jaén, and Director of the UniverDi Program directed to intellectually disabled persons in the university studies, funded by the ONCE Foundation.

He has published several books, book chapters, and papers and directed doctoral theses on the topics of emotions, stigma, poverty, inequality, aging, migration, corporate social responsibility, and gender.
