Rufat Efendiyev is currently working on migration and integration issues of Azerbaijanis in the United States. It is a second and continued part of the research initiated by him in 2016 due to grant support from the DAAD on the case of Azerbaijani migrants in Germany. The first visit to Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in 2016 was devoted to collection of materials, literature review, historical, socio-demographic and gender analysis of actual statistical data and interviews with Azerbaijani migrants residing in Germany. The research work on this broad theme (migration and integration issues of Azerbaijanis abroad) has been going on from that very time. Logically, the study of the case of Azerbaijanis in the United States of America (at the Center for Comparative Immigration Studies of the UC San Diego) is a crucial component of this extensive research with migration behavior. Particularly, studying the migration behavior of Azerbaijanis is extremely important from the point of view of understanding the key drivers and their socio-economic nature. Another equally important aspect of the study is an integration of migrants in the USA.
