Erin Hoekstra

Erin Hoekstra is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Minnesota. She has received Master’s degrees in public policy from Coventry University, UK and in Post-colonial Studies from the University of Manchester, UK. Her research focuses on the intersections of immigration and health along the US-Mexico border. Examining the medical care provided by free clinics and humanitarian aid organizations, her dissertation investigates health care access and provision for uninsured and undocumented immigrants during the implementation of the Affordable Care Act as well as the migrant health justice movement in Arizona after SB 1070.
